Guut-Rijkevorsel

Laying of new underground cables (150 kV) between Guut (Malle) and Rijkevorsel

Banner

Elia anticipates the construction of new underground electricity cables (150 kV) between the transition station (junction on high-voltage line) Guut in Malle and the high-voltage substation in Rijkevorsel. This is necessary to prepare the region for the energy transition. Work started in September 2022 and should last until June 2023.

  • texte Benefits to society
Elia is installing a new underground cable connection (150 kV) between the Guut transition station and the Rijkevorsel high-voltage substation. The works are necessary to prepare the electricity grid in Noorderkempen for the future. Due to the energy transition, higher electricity consumption is expected in the region as a consequence of, for example, the increase in electric cars, the use of heat pumps and the electrification of businesses. Thanks to the new cable connection, Elia will be able to guarantee future electricity supply. In addition, this project will create opportunities for new decentralised generation of electricity, for example through solar power, wind turbines or cogeneration (CHP).
  • texte The route

Elia is constructing an underground cable connection (150 kV) between the Guut transition station in Malle (junction on high-voltage line) and the high-voltage substation in Rijkevorsel. The route is approximately 4 kilometres long and runs via Sint Lenaartsebaan, Klokkeven, Heikant-Oost, Hoogstraatsebaan/Oostmalsesteenweg (N14), Brandgravenweg and Langstraat.

    • Elia will work in phases to limit the duration and scale of the impact on the surrounding area.
    • Site vehicles will use the shortest, safest and most accessible routes.
    • Possible diversions will be discussed with the relevant authorities and announced to local residents in advance.
    • Once work is complete, the work sites will always be restored to their original state.
